The topping-out ceremony for the new production plant of the Ypsomed AG medical technology company took place on Thursday in the Schwerin Industrial Park. In the future, components for pens, auto-injectors and pumping systems for administering liquid drugs are to be produced and assembled with vendor parts into finished end-products at the location. "Ypsomed AG is an innovative, global player, which has now set up a new location here, thereby creating 119 new jobs. In the future, there will therefore be more high-tech products from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern represented all over the world and thereby promoting our region as an attractive business location. Our aim is to attract more companies to invest here, and thus strengthen the economic power of the region", stated the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Employment and Health Dr. Stefan Rudolph at the site.

Locational advantages of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are found convincing - Start of production planned for the summer of 2019

A production and administration building with a gross floor area of some 19,000 square metres is currently undergoing construction at the Schwerin Industrial Park. The building will comprise a single-storey production area (including a cleanroom), depots, a tool storage area, a two-storey administrative area with offices, conference rooms and an auditorium, canteen, technical and sanitary rooms. Further investment is going into the outdoor facilities with parking spaces and loading ramps. According to the company, production is due to start in the summer of 2019. "The locational advantages offered by the region were so convincing that Ypsomed AG – in addition to its production plants in Switzerland and the Czech Republic – also decided to build a plant in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Here the medical technology company is provided with a modern industrial estate possessing a well developed infrastructure, a favourable transport environment and – first and foremost – a highly qualified workforce. We will continue to support both the establishment of new companies and the expansion of existing companies in our region", stated Rudolph.
