On the occasion of the summer reception of the Economic Promotion Agency Invest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH (Invest in MV), the State Secretary for Economic Affairs Dr. Stefan Rudolph named four Economic Ambassadors for the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry for Economic Affairs. "The Economic Ambassadors are recognised representatives of our regional economy. They are a visible sign of the strength of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as an investment location with a future. We have been able to gain four new personalities from our regional economy for this responsible task. They all possess long-standing experience in research and development as well as in both the maritime and manufacturing industry. I am delighted that they will be assisting us with their know-how in the acquisition of investors in the future", stated the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Employment and Health Dr. Stefan Rudolph in Schwerin. Over 300 representatives from business, politics and administration were invited to the traditional meeting.
The four new Economic Ambassadors are: Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz (former Managing Director of Neptun Werft GmbH & Co. KG (shipyard), Rostock); Dr. Sylva Rahm-Präger (Managing Director of Molkerei Naturprodukt GmbH (dairy products), Rügen in Poseritz); Tuncay Mericli (Managing Director of Ziel Heimtextilien GmbH (high-quality textile products), in Greifswald); Dr. Peter Zeggel (Management Consultant and Managing Director of AVELLA GmbH (solid wood construction technology) ,in Papendorf).
Authentic ambassadors of our home economy
Economic ambassadors are personalities from the world of business who promote the investment location of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to interested companies. "The Economic Ambassadors have already become familiar with the locational advantages of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in their role as entrepreneurs. They will support the development of further business locations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by using their personal contacts to decision-makers both in the national and international economy. They will contribute to the long-term strength and viability of our regional economy. The most authentic ambassadors of business are the entrepreneurs themselves", explained Rudolph. With the four new ambassadors, there are now a total of 73 economic ambassador in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The new Economic Ambassadors at a glance
Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz worked for over 40 years at the Meyer Shipyard. On 1st September 2000, he was appointed Managing Director of the Neptun Shipyard in Rostock. During his activities in Rostock as Managing Director, Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz developed the shipyard into a leading specialist for river cruise ships. In addition to river cruise ships, though, the shipyard also constructs gas tankers and ferries. Furthermore, the Neptun Shipyard also manufactures engine room modules for the Meyer shipyards in Papenburg and Turku (Finland). Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz headed the company until his retirement in 2016.
In the period of radical change following the reunification of Germany, Dr. Sylva Rahm-Präger founded her own company on the island of Rügen – the Rügener Inselfrische company. Prior to this, she had completed her study in Agricultural Sciences in Berlin. She primarily recruits unemployed women in her company and gives the village of Poseritz a new perspective. Since 1998, the milk from Poseritz cows is also processed in the Poseritz dairy. With its selected milk products as well as wild-fruit products, the Rügener Inselfrische company has reached a large number of customers who appreciate quality products.
Tuncay Mericli became aware of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a result of an investor event held in Bursa (Turkey) in May 2017. In October 2017, he founded the Ziel Heimtextilien GmbH and moved into the ml&s premises in Greifswald. The company produces printed textiles for the home using special machines. At the investor event again taking place in Bursa in April 2018, Tuncay Mericli gave a report on the experiences he made setting up his company in Greifswald.
Dr. Peter Zeggel has a doctorate in physics and is a Management Consultant – primarily in the field of medical technology. He was the founding shareholder of the DOT GmbH company in Rostock. Amongst other things, DOT has made an international reputation for itself in the area of surface enhancement of medical implants. For many years, Peter Zeggel was, as Managing Director, responsible for financing, customer support and marketing at DOT. He is also active as an investor and consultant for other medical technology companies.
