On the 31 May 2013, the groundwork was laid for the largest investment by Nestlé Germany since the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was founded. Together with chancellor Dr Angela Merkel, around 200 guests celebrated the construction of the new Nestlé factory in Schwerin, which will see the production of Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules for Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe from summer 2014. This factory in Schwerin will be the third production site for Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules in Europe.
Invest in MV has supervised this settlement project since it first began. Nestlé has invested over 220 million euros in the Schwerin site in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Up to 450 new employment opportunities will be available thanks to this project. When the factory is completed, it will command the largest production capacity of Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules in Europe and will produce up to two billion capsules each year.
