In recent years, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has established itself as a premium service location, with the Service Centre sector experiencing particularly positive development.

110 companies currently employ over 14,600 members of staff, located in various industry sectors. With the help of the “Telemarketing Initiative M-V” (TMI) network, synergies between politics, research and companies can be encouraged.

The IT sector in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offers numerous companies development opportunities. The focus of the sector is on graphic data processing, e-learning, telemedicine and process automation.

The range of teaching offered by the colleges extends from automation, multimedia systems and communication and network technology, to software and hardware development, right through to interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of telemedicine, health telematics, bioinformatics and geoinformatics. As one of the many technology centres, the Roggentin Informatics Centre is particularly oriented towards companies within the IT sector. As a centre for innovation and foundation, as well as software development expertise and IT services, the ICR offers optimum conditions. The SIV.AG, the largest IT company in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has its official seat here. Prestigious companies such as Unister, Arvato and Adesso are also represented in the region.

Practical IT Networking:

3D MARITIME: IT companies, research institutes and IT users have teamed up to form the 3D maritime network. The focus is on 3D computer graphics for shipbuilding, offshore and ocean technology as well as ship operations. Current projects are concerned with developing a documentation tool for ships under construction, as well as creating individual virtual training programmes for maritime education.

IT Initiative Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.: Approximately 70 companies within the sector are involved in the IT initiative. As a regional interest group for politics and society, the network offers a platform for learning and coordinates joint projects for its members. Its goal is to market regional IT products and services nationally and internationally.
